MOUNT: 20 x 16 maximum, minimum mount should be 15”

Maximum entry of 4 prints in a section, but with a maximum total entry of 12 prints overall per member.

Prints should show Membership Number, Title and Section number PRINTED on the back of each print.

COMPETITION RULES

Please note: only fully paid up Club members are eligible to enter

1. All images and elements of images submitted in club
Competitions must:-

Originate in camera
Be solely the work of the author.
Be in copyright ownership of the author.

2. Prints and Slides used in club competitions may be

Produced from film or digital files.
Home or trade processed.
Subject to manipulation deemed appropriate
by the author, with the exception of any image in the Natural History and Record & Architecture sections In the Annual Competition

3. (a) No image may be used more than once in
any named club competition.
(b) An image that has been entered in an
Annual Competition will not be eligible for a subsequent monthly competition.
(c) An image that is similar as to be almost
Identical to one already used in a competition will be considered the same image even if the medium is changed and will therefore be disqualified.

4. (a) Entry to all club competitions will be
anonymous, workers should only write
their SLPS membership number on all
entries.
(b) All competition entries must be
accompanied by the appropriate entry form.
Entries will not be accepted if the entry form
Issued by SLPS is not used.
(c) All competition entry forms will be available
for download from our website
www.slps.co.uk

5. (a) Only full members may enter club
competitions

6. (a) The committee reserves the right to accept
or reject the work of an entrant, or to
re-designate it to another section.

7. (a) Every care will be taken of entries, but no
responsibility can be accepted for loss or
damage.

8. (a) For each competition a judge or panel will
be appointed by the committee. The decision of any judge or panel will be final in any
matter relating to the competitions.

(a) Original negatives or digital files must be
made available to the committee on request.
The Society shall have the right to reproduce or
exhibit without fee, and to retain for external
competitions, prints or slides entered into club
competitions, unless objection is lodged in
writing at the time of entry.

Holders of annual trophies should return any trophy in a cleaned condition to the Competition Secretary one month prior to the relevant competition

MONTHLY COMPETITION SUBJECTS 2006/07

Please note entries are handed in one week before the competition date, and entries are not allowed on the night. Competition rules are detailed in the competition section of this syllabus and on the website. All prints should be mounted, titled and meet the stated subject. The subject is for you to interpret as you so desire. It is the image that is being judged and not the title, the title even though the title should support the image content. An image should not be made to fit the Subject by the title alone.

PANEL COMPETITION

Two categories Colour and Monochrome
A panel consists of 3 prints. Each print must be from a different section - you cannot have a panel with 2 images from the same section. A 2 inch letter P should be marked on the back of each print and then indicate L for left, C for centre and R for right. This should be placed next to the letter P. This is to indicate the positioning of your prints when displayed as a panel.

Maximum Entry: 1 Colour Panel and 1 Mono Pane

Slides must show Membership Number, Title and section number as well as being correctly spotted.

Best Colour Print, Best Mono Print and Best Slide in the Annual Competitions receive an Acrylic Trophy to keep.

MONTHLY COMPETITION
There are three sections:

Colour Prints
Monochrome Prints
Slides (Slides made from digital files are eligible but rules 3a, b and c apply).

PRINT MOUNT SIZE: 12” x 10” maximum

PRINT SIZE: Any size up to a maximum of 12” x 10”

SLIDE: 2 x 2 plastic or glass mounted

Prints & Slides must show Membership Number, Title and section and slides should be correctly spotted.

The subjects for the 6 monthly competitions are shown in this Syllabus.

Each member may enter a maximum of two images in each section. Where a member enters two images in a section, only the highest scoring image will count. The best 5 from 6 section scores will be used to determine the overall final score in each section. The winners each year of the three sections will be awarded The Photographer of The Year Trophy, and also receive an Acrylic Trophy to keep.

L&CPU ENTRIES
PAGB AWARDS: The South Manchester Camera Club

On 11th March 2006, any members who are interested in working towards PAGB Awards of Photographic Merit will have the opportunity of putting a selection of their work before a panel of three PAGB approved judges.

There will be an opportunity to show both prints and slides and these will be shown immediately after the images in the PAGB Inter-Club Print and Slide selections held on the same day.

What you will need to do:
Send in the entry form(s) from the L&CPU website.
Hand in your work on the day.
Enjoy seeing many images and having your work assessed.
The times for the day will be posted on the L&CPU Website on 6th March.

Please note: This event is only open to those individual members who attend on the day.

FABULOUS FOUR COMPETITION
This is a panel competition for slide workers. Up to 3 sets of 4 slides may be entered by a member. The objective being that each set of 4 slides depicts a theme of the member’s choice. Slides should show Membership Number, Title of Panel, individual titles if required. Each slide should be marked to indicate the position within the panel i.e. TL top left, TR top right, BL bottom left and BR bottom right. Slides should be spotted correctly and plastic or glass mounted in 2 x 2 mounts.
Please note that slides created from digital files are allowed.

ALEX BALMER TROPHY
This is a Monochrome only Print Competition. Prints must not be more than two years old. A maximum of six prints are permitted per member. Digital Prints are acceptable.

PRINT SIZE: Any size up to a maximum of 20 x 16

PRESIDENT’S TROPHY
This trophy was donated by Martin Reece MBE ARPS in 2002. The President each year will determine how this trophy will be awarded. This might be for the winner of a specific competition, or to an individual for their Photographic achievements or to acknowledge an individuals contribution to the SLPS.

NEWS AND NOTES

Photography in Public Areas

As a consequence of the difficulties surrounding photography in public areas and the potential risk to individuals and to The SLPS, a policy decision has been made which has resulted in a guidance note being created which will be included in our members packs.

Members are at risk if they do not adhere to this guidance.

 
 

FAB4

It has been decided not to make changes to the FAB4 Competition. It is the intention to promote and develop this competition. Members are reminded that slides from digital files are allowed.
