Rules – Monthly Competition

MONTHLY COMPETITION SUBJECTS 2008/09

Please note entries are handed in one week before the competition date, and entries are not allowed on the night.

SEPTEMBER:     2008 Celebrations  (Deadline: 18th September)
OCTOBER:    Record/Architecture  (Deadline: 23rd October)
NOVEMBER:    British Coastline  (Deadline:20th November)
JANUARY:    Natural History  (Deadline: 22nd January)
FEBRUARY:    Light & Shadows  (Deadline: 19th February)
MARCH:         Music  (Deadline: 19th March)

October:    Nature
November:    Performing Arts
January:    Portrait (human)and Figure Study
February:    Water
March:        Macro

Please note new Digital section and new rules.

There are four sections:

1. Colour Prints
2. Monochrome Prints
3. Slides (Slides made from digital files are eligible but must comply with competitions rules .
4. Digital Image

PRINT MOUNT SIZE:  30cm x 25cm maximum

PRINT SIZE: Any size up to a maximum of 30cm x 25cm

SLIDE: 2 x 2 plastic or glass mounted

DIGITAL IMAGE SIZE 1024×768 by 72 dpi.
Digital Image CD must show Membership Number

Prints and Slides must show Membership Number, Title and Section and slides should be correctly spotted. Prints should be submitted with a copy on CD for digital projection.
The digital image title should end with the letter “D” to    clearly distinguish it from the colour and mono image.

The subjects for the 6 monthly competitions are shown in this Syllabus.

Each member may enter one image in each section.
The best 5 from 6 section scores will be used to determine the overall final score in each section.

The winners of the four sections will be awarded the Acrylic Trophy.

The Photographer of the Year, (Sid Cearns Trophy) will be awarded to the best overall image from 24 section winners
