ABOUT TONY MYERS FRPS

Tony Myers FRPS is our Chat Lines club writer and has been a member of the SLPS for nearly 20 years. He has also run the SLPS Digital Group since 1998. He additionally runs a website titled FirePix International, the United Kingdom's premier website for high quality fire photography. The website features many varieties of fire images by Tony, a fire officer of twenty-eight years standing with the Merseyside Fire Brigade.
This impressive collection includes firefighting action images during and after the fires at industrial, domestic and other incidents: including a rare collection of accident, casualty extraction, fire prevention and the work of New York and Tokyo firefighters. This is by no means an exhaustive list.
The collection has won International distinctions in China, Japan and Spain for its wide coverage of this unusual subject.
In 2002, Tony was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society. Fellowship is the highest Distinction of The Royal Photographic Society and recognises original work and outstanding ability in a specialist field. Tony’s Fellowship shows his achievement in the field of fire photography. Below are just some of Tony’s other photographic achievements over the past fifteen years:

Winner - Mersey River Festival, 1992.
Exhibion entitled "Firefighters: Merseyside and New York", at the Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool, 1993.
Winner of the British Salon of Contemporary Photography, 1994.
Winner of the French International Fire Photographic Competition, Paris 1995.
Winner - Spanish Fire International, Golden Firefighter Award, 1996.
Bronze Medal Winner and six acceptances at the Chinese International World Photo Competition, Xian, China, 1999.
Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, 2002.
Winner - Mersey River Festival, 2005.

Tony has also been a member of North West RPS Committee for 14 years, a judge/lecturer at national level, and has had photographs published worldwide.
